If you had to explain the adidas Equipment sub-label to someone it would probably be something like no-nonsense 90s sportswear at its highest grade.
First released in 1991, the adidas Equipment line ditched the trefoil logo of the 70s & 80s with the performance focused ‘badge of sport’ logo that would become iconic throughout the early 90s on classic football shirts from Marseille to Munich. The 3 stripe motif optimized the big logo branding of the era & would give birth to some of the most collectable retro football shirts of the 1990s. With performance at the very forefront of the EQT line & the revival of retro sportswear in the 90s, the Equipment line quickly became a fan favourite of football fans as sportswear brands started to cater for more lifestyle-wear with training kits that could be worn on & off the pitch. The celebrated sub-label also gave birth to a range of retro runners like the Equipment Support 93 which saw a huge revival back in 2016 following the 25th anniversary of the “no-nonsense” performance line.
Following its 30th anniversary back in 2021, the adidas Equipment line now returns for January 2025. With a revival release of ‘badge of sport’ unisex styles the drop is set to go down a storm with classic adi fans & those looking to channel their inner Graeme Souness in 1992. Highlights of the release includes the reflective crew neck & matching pants in the signature EQT green colourway in a soft french terry fabric with reflective detailing. The Equipment windbreaker features a woven Polyamide material and takes us straight back to the dugouts of the French Division in 1991.
A full EQT reflective tracksuit gives a nod to the performance heritage with the addition of bodysuits, training tops & pants for the ladies. On the accessories side of things there’s also performance socks, classic caps, a towel & an EQT gym bag for the 3 stripes fitness fanatics. The adidas Equipment 2025 range launches from select stockists such as size? on Thursday 30th January 2025.
