adidas & Man Utd Take us Back to ’91 With The Bring Back Collection

The adidas x Man Utd ‘Bring Back’ collection celebrates the Red Devil’s European glory in 1991 with a collection of classic trefoil styles.

1991 was a pre-Premier League era of 2 Unlimited tunes, classic trefoil track tops & a European Cup-Winners’ Cup courtesy of the legendary Glaswegian manager, Alex Ferguson. For Utd fans, as much as we’re trying to get through this weird, let’s say “transitional” period, looking back at the yesteryears of the Newton Heath born Yorkshire/Lancashire railway team brings back all that 90s nostalgia of lairy Leeds fans marching down Sir Mat Busby Way, warming yourself up with a steaming hot chip barm from Lou Macari’s on a cold November night & witnessing what is still probably some of the greatest football gear that has ever been released. Taking us back to a golden era of Bryan Robson, Mark Hughes, Paul Ince, Lee Sharpe & Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s right hand man, Mike Phelan, adidas have now worked with Manchester United to delve into the trefoil archives and revive the legendary kit worn in the 1990-1991 season when Utd won the European Cup-Winners’ Cup under Sir Alex Ferguson. The European title would not only mark a new dominant era for Utd in the 90s, but the start of a new Premier League era in 1992 of multi-million sponsorship deals, the beginning of Fergie’s Dream Team & the Class of ’92. 1992 also marked the last year the Trafford based club would wear the trefoil logo on their kit at their training ground at the Cliff in Salford & the Theatre of Dreams. Celebrating United’s 2-1 European Cup-Winners’ Cup glory against Barcelona in Rotterdam with Mark Hughes scoring both goal goals, the Bring Back collection revives some classic trefoil toggery from the early 90s.

Highlights from the collection includes the Away Jersey which features the old school Man Utd badge, OG trefoil branding & classic  3 stripes. The adidas ’91 track top and matching track pants revives the iconic tracksuit worn by the likes of Hughes & Robson with an embroidered Utd badge & iconic print. Finally there’s also the ’91 t-shirt which features programme graphics from the European Cup-Winners’ Cup final to the rear with ‘The Road to Rotterdam’.
