The adidas Trimm Star ‘VHS’ size? exclusive revives the classic 70s training shoe with old school VHS inspired colourways from the 80s & 90s.
Blank VHS tapes back in the 80s & 90s were a bit mad really looking back. On one tape you’d have the Terminator recorded off TV, your aunties wedding & a Frank Sidebottom Xmas special from ’92. The VHS card cover whether it was Sony, TDK or Scotch would be covered in scribbled marker pen highlighting what was on there which had usually been re-written over about 3 times. When DVD’s became a thing in the late 90s I think we all realised what carnage we had been creating in our home VHS libraries. In celebration of old school VHS, and their 25th anniversary celebrations, size? are back with another exclusive trainer release for April 2025 in the form of the adidas Trimm Star.
First introduced as part of the German Sports Confederation endorsed’ fitness range, the Trimm Star is the slightly older sibling of the Trimm Trab trainer. Trimm translating from German to ‘trim’ was a government led programme to get West Germans in shape in the 1970s working with the Adi Dassler brand to promote fitness programmes in collaboration with the classic 3 stripes. First released in the 1970s, it was the Trimm Star’s “second coming” in 1985 that gave shoe the cult status it holds today thanks to the whole casual sportswear phenomenon of the 1980s. Re-released by size? back in 2017, the Trimm Star trainer now returns for a very special VHS inspired release.
Featuring the signature style of classic adidas with suede uppers for the black version & leather for the white, alongside the Trimm Star’s innovative ghilly lacing system. The perforated 3 stripes to the sidewalls & lace aglets take colourway inspiration from old school VHS tapes from the 80s & 90s with trefoil branding to the heel & ‘Trimm Star’ in gold foiling to the lateral sides.
