Bags of Flavor: Trango’s Down Tibb Street

size? recently caught up with Richie Gill, owner of Bags of Flavor in Manchester’s Northern Quarter that specialises in vintage Berghaus jackets.

Following on from the recent revival release of the Berghaus Trango jacket which was famously modelled by the Supersonic singer, Liam Gallagher, it seems to have rekindled a past passion of Mera Peaks & outdoors performance jackets for many. In celebration of the latest Berghaus revival, size? took a recent trip down Tibb Street in Manchester’s Northern Quarter, or NQ as us locals call it, to visit the cornerstone of GORE-TEX & vintage Berghaus, Bags of Flavor. Founded by Richie Gill, the vintage store was originally located in the Northern Quarter’s world renowned Afflecks Palace. Now located on Tibb Street, the store is like an Aladdin’s cave of vintage Berghaus. The (Greater) Mancunian connection spans from revellers wearing Trango’s around their waistline at Cricketers all nighters in West Houghton in the early noughties to the muddy rave fields of Rochdale’s Stand Lees Farm of the late 1980s. From Bolton to Brinnington, the Berghaus connection is like nothing else.

It’s about the weather mate… it’s Mancunian weather. Everyone remembers this because there’s no other jacket that looks like it. A lot of people have tried to copy this thing, but it isn’t this.
