Take a look at the latest StockX Current Culture Index which reports on the market defining brands, products & trends of 2024 as well as what we can expect for 2025.
Started by Dan Gilbert, Josh Luber, Greg Schwartz, and Chris Kaufman in Detroit back in 2015, StockX grew out of a stock market inspired “buy & sell” marketplace concept exclusively for sought after sneakers. With resale sneakers becoming increasingly popular in the mid 2010’s, the idea of creating a platform that was similar to buying actual stock was completely unique for the sneaker market. Raising millions in investment in their “start up” years from the likes of Eminem to Mark Wahlberg, the last 9 years has seen StockX has become the go-to platform for sought after sneakers, streetwear & collectibles. Following on from the recent news that Nick Karratt would be joining StockX as chief marketing officer, StockX also recently announced that Scott Cutler will be stepping down as CEO of StockX in December 2024. The start of each year sees StockX release their Current Culture Index which breaks down the resale platforms top performing brands, products & trends. As resale continues to evolve moving in 2025 from just re-sellers selling hyped Jordan releases, the “big facts” below shows a clear shift in how platforms like StockX have aligned with retail trends & consumer shifts.
Sneakers
The top 5 sneaker brands maintained rankings year-over-year from 2023 to 2024. ASICS, which knocked Converse out of the top 5 last year, held on to the no.5 spot. While adidas is once again no.3 on the list, the brand has diversified its offering. In 2023, 52% of adidas sneaker trades were under the YEEZY brand but the number shrank to 44% in 2024.
Shoes
UGG (no.1) & Crocs (no.2) once again hold the top spots on StockX’s list of best selling shoe brands. Timberland moved up one spot to no.3 after closing the year with more than 200% trade growth over 2023.
Apparel
Fear of God maintained the no.1 spot on StockX’s list of top-traded apparel brands. Yeezy made an impressive jump, moving from no.11 in 2024 to claim the no.4 spot in 2024.
Accessories
Stanley burst onto the scene in 2023, taking the no.2 on 2024’s list of top traded accessories brands. Telfar fell off the top 5 (coming in at no.6) falling 3 spots from 2023.
Collectibles & Electronics
In the collectible space, Lego stole the top spot from Bearbrick while Pop Mart swooped in to secure the no.2 spot with the success of its Labubu character. For electronics, Sony clinched the top spot again thanks to the new Playstation 5 Pro and the 30th anniversary collection. Finalmouse moved up 2 spots to land at no.4.
