The Nike Shox Ride 2 trainer merges ‘Visible Air’ with Shox sole technology & now arrives in an updated light bone/turf orange colourway for October 2024.
When Skepta put his own his creative style on the Nike Shox with the swoosh label for his collaboration back in 2019 he famously said “When I used to go to Manchester and up north, I used to see all the kids rocking Shox, it was a real street shoe”. He was right. Here in Manchester the Nike Shox was absolutely massive. Walking down Market Street back in 2004 was like something out of sci-fi movie with Lacoste tracksuit clad teenagers rocking these bouncy Shox shoes on feet & 3 panel swoosh caps. Of course I had a pair, and to be fair they were pretty mint. Following Skepta’s collaboration, the Nike Shox has made a bit of a comeback. A slightly misunderstood shoe, the Shox was all about basketball and bounce on the other side of the Atlantic, whereas closer to home it held a cult like status on the red bricked terraced streets of Moston & Middleton. There was also the Nike Shox Ride 2, which you might remember from the Supreme collab back in 2022. The original ‘Alpha Project’ silhouette now returns with the Nike Shox Ride 2 trainer which arrives in light bone & turf orange.
Merging ‘visible air’ units and Shox sole technology the Nike Shox Ride 2 was originally released as part of the Swoosh’s ‘Alpha Project’ which ran from the late 90s to the mid noughties. Although the Shox was originally designed by Bruce Kilgore, way back in 1984, the Shox was first “officially” released in 2000. Revived as part of a Supreme collaboration back in 2022, the Nike Shox Ride 2 trainer now returns for a retro release for October 2024.
Featuring layered mesh uppers with leather overlays in ‘light bone’ with pops of ‘turf orange’ to the side swooshes and Shox branding to the tongue and heel. The streamlined “bounce” silhouette takes noughties sole technology to the next level with Air Max cushioning to the front and the iconic Shox system to the rear that will most certainly add some extra spring to your step. The Nike Shox Ride 2 light bone/turf orange is available now from selected stockists such as size?.
