Nike recently shared their most popular sneaker drops of 2024 across their exclusive SNKRS app with two Travis Scott collaborations coming in at the very top.
Dubbed as the “ultimate sneaker destination”, SNKRS is an app & exclusive sneaker community that was introduced by Nike back in 2015. As retailers roll out raffles for exclusive sneaker drops, the SNKRS app is similar giving its members exclusive access to hyped drops & releases through its free membership with a release calendar. Once a member has signed up they will be sent push notifications (if they have notifications enabled) about when a draw is open. The member can then enter the draw, just like a retailer raffle, with a chance to bag the latest release. The first come first served, exclusive sneakers app has been downloaded 20 million + times through the Google Play store alone making it one of the largest sneaker release platforms of its kind. As much as the word was on the grapevine that Nike had lost their way with falling stock prices earlier in the year, the reality is they have still been knocking out some of the most sought after sneakers & talked about trainers of 2024. Nike have now shared their 10 most popular releases of 2024 through their SNKRS app.
The data isn’t from actual sales, as SNKRS releases are limited to keep supply down & desirability up, but more from traffic data & draw entries. Taking the top two positions was the ongoing Jordan collaboration with the Houston born rapper/trapper Jacques Bermon Webster aka Travis Scott with different colourways of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG. Scott also took the 4th & 5th spot with the Jordan CJ1 T-Rexx ‘Sail’ & another Air Jordan 1 Low OG with ‘Canary’ colourway. The only two non-Jordan silhouettes to make the top 10 were the Kobe 6 Protro trainer in ‘Italian Camo’ & the Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration with Futura which dropped back in May 2024.
So what are the take home’s for the swoosh brand? Well Air Jordan are still their best most sought after styles, in the USA, & Travis Scott collaborations are still clearly popping. With Elliot Hill recently announced as their new CEO and plans to take the Beaverton based brand back to its supremacy in 2025 will Nike regain their sneaker crown?
