Originally released back in the late 1970s, the Nike LD-1000 now arrives as part of an exclusive release with size? & features unique knitted uppers.
Let’s rewind back to 1977 for a second. George Lucas gave sci-fi fans “A New Hope” with the launch of the very first Star Wars film. Punk Rock was starting to turn into New Wave & David Bowie famously donned a wedge haircut for his album cover Low. On the footwear side of things, the game was really starting to change. Farah Fawcett had famously wore a pair of Nike Cortez whilst riding a skateboard as part of a promo for Charlie’s Angels in 1976, and the whole jeans with trainers trend was really starting to become a thing. 77′ saw adidas release the SL72 & the Country in the same year as running trainers became even more focused on sole technology & innovation. There’s just something very special about the classic late 70s runner aesthetic. OG silhouettes like the Nike LD-1000 trainer might be nearly 50 years old but the truth is they look just as fresh today. Now treated to a very special size? exclusive release, the revival retro runner now returns for February 2025.
One of Nike originals running silhouettes, the LD-1000 was first launched in 1977, 5 years after the initial release of the Cortez in 1972. Geared up specifically for “long distance’ runners, hence the name, the LD-1000 packed all the charm of the classic 70s running silhouettes. Following in the footsteps of other Nike classics, like the Cortez and the Waffle, the LD-1000 featured the signature ‘waffle’ outsole, classic swoosh branding and all the hallmarks of the late 70s era from the Beaverton born brand.
Following its revival release last year, the Nike LD-1000 now returns as part of a very special size? exclusive for February 2025. Featuring traditional knit and suede uppers in two exclusive colourways with bespoke design details such as over-stitched side swooshes & tri-coloured laces. Other highlights include patent leather heel tabs, EVA cushioning and the iconic waffle rubber outsole underfoot. The Nike LD-1000 trainer in brown & dark red is available now exclusively from size?.
