StockX recently announced that Scott Cutler, who joined the sneaker resale platform as CEO in 2019, will be stepping down at the end of 2024.

Started by Dan Gilbert, Josh Luber, Greg Schwartz, and Chris Kaufman in Detroit back in 2015, StockX grew out of a stock market inspired “buy & sell” marketplace concept exclusively for sought after sneakers. With resale sneakers becoming increasingly popular in the mid 2010’s, the idea of creating a platform that was similar to buying actual stock was completely unique for the sneaker market. Raising millions in investment in their “start up” years from the likes of Eminem to Mark Wahlberg, the last 9 years has seen StockX has become to go-to platform for sought after sneakers, streetwear & collectibles. Following on from the recent news that Nick Karratt would be joining StockX as chief marketing officer, StockX also recently announced another switch up in the sneaker reseller’s ranks. Scott Cutler will be stepping down as CEO of StockX on December 31st 2024.

Cutler, who is also currently the senior vice president at Ebay, joined StockX as chief operating officer back in 2019 and steered the resale platform through a rapid growth period. Diverting into new categories as well as steering StockX through the global pandemic, Cutler will leave a lasting legacy on the sneaker resale market. Original StockX founder & current chief operating officer, Greg Schwartz, will take over from Cutler as CEO from January 2025. The co-founder will focus on brand growth & market expansion with further plans of diversifying into more resale categories.

There is no more qualified individual to step into the office than Greg — from day one, he served as a partner to me in scaling the business, advancing its operations, and strengthening its brand position. As an early investor and advisor, taking on the role of CEO was a truly full circle moment for me and I couldn’t be prouder of all that we accomplished over the last five years.
