The Stone Island Metal Mesh PVD Nanotechnology jacket features a unique metallic fabric courtesy of a nanometric later & aluminium deposits.
Once famously dubbed the Ferrari of the technical clothing world by Sportswear Company S.p.A. head honcho Carlo Rivetti, Stone Island’s contribution to the world of fabric innovation & garment engineering is literally like no other brand. With a brand like Stone Island it’s sometimes too easy to hark back to the archives of original Massimo Osti & Paul Harvey designs but the forward thinking nature of the compass logo brand always brings us back to the present day. The latest Stone Island Metal Mesh PVD jacket, which features Nanotechnology, is a reminder of Stoney’s continued innovation, one of a kind pieces & why we originally fell in love with the brand as a slightly naive teenager trying to navigate the world of pubs, clubs and football terraces.
Stone Island usually have a “stand out” piece for the season & the Stone Island Metal Mesh PVD Nanotechnology jacket is most certainly one of them. Constructed from two layers of polyester organza & Cordura® as a base material, a nanometric layer of aluminium is then deposited on the two layers of polyester organza through a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technique. Drawing inspiration from industrial technique’s, the metal (in its sold state) is then vaporized and deposited as a nanometric film on the fabric. The overlap of the two metallic layers creates a completely unique garment with a metallic shimmer finish the T-1000 from Terminator 2 would be proud of.
The jacket also comes with ‘Responsible Down Standard’ certified padding to the inner & hood to battle the cold winter months alongside 3 flap to the front in typical Stoney fashion. Stone Island’s fabric research badge in white completes the garment with the help of Supreme’s very own Sage Elsesser on modelling duties.
