In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 95 the swoosh are re-releasing the legendary ‘neon’ colourway in true OG big bubble form.
If you know you’re Tuned Air from your your original Tinker Haftield designs then you will know of the significance of Air Max colourways. It will always be about the classic colourways, and we’re strictly talking about the original releases from the 80s & the 90s. For the Air Max 1 it’s the white & university red, for the Air Max 97 it’s the silver bullet, for the Air Max 90 it’s the infrared & for the Air Max Plus it’s the hyper blue. For the Air Max 95 it’s the original ‘Neon’ colourway. A classic mid 90s style associated with tracksuit clad Scousers, Jay from the Inbetweeners, Ronaldinho & MC Grinder, the iconic ‘neon’ colourway is the holy grail when it comes to Air Max 95. After previously running an Air Max blog for a few years during lockdown, it was the last re-release of the Air Max 95 ‘Neon’ in 2020 that set the benchmark for Air Max releases, not only marking our most successful drop in Air Max sales but also breaking our website in the process due to the sheer volume of traffic. The good news is the highly celebrated Air Max silhouette is back for April 2025, only this time in true OG big bubble form.
Originally designed by the ex ACG designer, Sergio Lozano, the Air Max 95 mixed 90s sportswear, an All Conditions Gear aesthetic with a human anatomy inspired design. Literally like no other trainer before it, the Air Max 95 revolutionised the sneaker game with the addition of Air Max cushioning to the forefoot, as well as the rear. Designed for heavier athletes who needed maximum cushioning, the original design drew inspiration from the human body with a lacing system inspired by the ribcage, a spine inspired outsole and a combination of mesh & suede to the uppers to represent muscle fibres. Originally released in the iconic neon colourway back in 1995, the Air Max 95 is up there as one of the greatest sneaker releases of all time.
Back with a “big bubble” bang for 2025, the Air Max ‘Neon’now returns for a very special 30th anniversary release. Featuring a slightly bigger rear air bubble which gives a nod to the original release from ’95, the 2025 re-release features premium materials with the iconic anatomy inspired uppers, mini swooshes, speed lacing system & Air Max cushioning underfoot. Releasing this April from select swoosh stockists such as JD Sports who will be only be launching in store in seven key cities across the UK & Europe.
